Southern Chester County Emergency Medical Services received official notification from the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner's Office that we have been awarded a VFCVASGP grant for $5,264.37 towards the purchase of a new paramedic responder vehicle in 2010.
The Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program (VFCVASGP) makes an annual grant program available for fire companies, ambulance services and rescue squads. Beginning in September of each year the program provides grant eligibility information and makes an on-line grant application available for all eligible applicants. Based on applicant and project criteria, staff reviews and approves or disapproves all applications, processes signed grant agreements and authorizes dispersal of grant funds. Final grant reports are reviewed for compliance with project description and program guidelines.
Under the grant program, $22 million will be allocated for Pennsylvania fire companies and $3 million for EMS units. More than 2,700 fire and EMS organizations took advantage of the $25 million program during past years.
Thank you to State Fire Commissioner Mann for his administration of this program on an annual basis and to State Senator Pileggi and Representatives Houghton and Ross for their legislative support for this valuable funding opportunity. Over the past 4 years, SCCEMS has received almost $20,000 to support operations and capital needs.
